Kur Wellness Studios officially opened 2 years ago from today, June 5th 2015! In this article the Asbury Park Press welcomed us and invited everyone to our grand opening.
Two worthy notes since this article was written: 1) we don't offer acupuncture (but it's available right next door!) and 2) we now offer private Personal Training.
Look at what the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce posted about Asbury's "Wellness Way" aka. Bond Street!

“Meditation- it clears my mind and I have more focus on my goals. Visualizing and listening to the sea calms me.” -Rodney, Massage Therapist
“My self-care routine includes a 21-minute daily meditation called ‘The Infinity Call’. Its focus is on returning to divine feminine energy. Every morning I rise at 7 am to listen to the meditation live and then go on my day! Over the years it has helped me to feel more connected and reduce stress.” -Maggie, Yogi
“Yoga has given me every tool I need to be able to live my ‘best self’. The strength and confidence that yoga brings to me is like no other. Being able to tap into the self and begin to peel away layers and blockages that weigh me down. When we can find a place of trust we can lead our lives with ease and contentment.” -Megan, Yogi
“Yoga has literally improved the mobility of my knee. Persistent pain was alleviated with the small adjustments and guidance from Megan in a Vinyasa Flow class. I can’t promise results like this for everyone, but it’s worth a try!” -Troy, Spa Owner/Manager

Envisioning color in meditation practices and thorough out your day can help balance the mind and body. Idea Fitness Journal features more information here. Click the link to learn about the colors you should be visualizing.
When you visit Kur, you will notice our favorite color is orange! This is what the article says about orange and the sacral chakra:
"Orange, a combination of red and yellow, is said to be more balancing than red and good for sustaining warmth. It is thought to enhance creativity, vitality and sensuality; stimulate socializing; and create opportunity. Visualizing orange may help alleviate depression; stimulate joy and happiness; and enhance receptivity to pleasure..."
"Working with the sacral chakra and the color orange can help us create a healthy balance between body and mind.
Exercise for the Sacral Chakra. Rock your pelvis forward and backward. If you wish, allow your arms to swing around your torso and gently tap your mid to low back as you rock. Stay connected to your legs and feet. Now visualize an orange disk below your navel."

Tell us about the background and foundation of you; how you got into the vocation that you do so well.
I found out a long time ago that I like to be very spontaneous. I got my business degree and an undergraduate degree in business marketing. I used those skills in the career world for a very long time. As I got older, the more I realized that it just wasn’t for me. It was too routine and not spontaneous- just kind of the grind every day. When life moved me to the New York area, the grind actually got worse. The nice thing about New York is that you end up with a beach home -something to get you out of the city. So we ended up with a beach home down in the Jersey shore and we found this great town, Asbury Park- which is kind of up and coming. I found that I really wanted to be down here more. I just decided that it was time to quit my job and open a business in this town. It brings such a diverse type of tourists and a local population that is open to different types of things. I just kind of felt like there was a hole. There wasn’t some place that I had envisioned and the kind of services that I was use to in New York. Why not bring it here? There are a lot of people who were coming down here all the time – and so that’s what I decided to do.
Sometimes life makes us uncomfortable in our skin with what we are and what we are doing because there is another exciting assignment for you in life and somewhere else that you are in demand. It’s like your inner-man can hear it but you are just not hearing it yet in the physical realm. Once you tap into it and listen you can realize, “Oh so this is what I am supposed to be doing.” And then it feels so good!
Especially in the field I picked because it’s something that is not traditional. It’s not just interesting for me to do, it’s helping people. We have people come in and say, “I learned a breathing technique in this yoga class that I’ve never experienced before. I brought it home with me and I’ve actually quit smoking.” It’s pretty amazing to hear. Or people have come for our workouts and they have actually transformed their bodies faster than they have done in any other gym. It’s not just because we are more holistic, we cross over from the pampering services that make you feel so good – to the services that actually make really big differences.
