Pre-Care RecommendationsYou desire the best results from your spa service and there are ways you can make that happen by the way you care for yourself at home. Many of us go into our spa service thinking the appointment is all we need; however pre- and post-care is vital for results and benefits. Please read below to learn how to make the most of your visit.

Please note: Our Skin Care room is up one flight of stairs in our studio. If you can't easily use stairs, please let us know well ahead of time so we can set up a downstairs room for you for your service.
Facials
- NO Retin-A for 72 hours before a facial
- NO Accutane for 6 months before a facial
- NO sun exposure/tanning, abrasives, or exfoliation 24-48 hours
before and after a facial - NO injectables, medical-grade peels/resurfacing for 2 weeks (Botox, fillers, Rejuvaderm, TCA peels, dermaplaning, microneedling, etc.) before a facial
- NO Peel add-ons with Microderms due to possible over-reactions
- NO Dermaflash add-on with Microderms due to over-exfoliation
- Taking any skin medications? Alpha-hydroxy or glycolic acids? Let us know.
- Don’t drink too much alcohol a day or two before as this will dehydrate your skin and thin your blood vessels that may cause an irritation as the facial takes place.
- Don't eat oily foods within a two-day period around your service.
Waxing
- NO Retin-A for 2 weeks before waxing
- NO Accutane for 12 months before waxing
- NO sun exposure/tanning, abrasives, or exfoliation 24-48 hours
before and after waxing - NO injectables, medical-grade peels/resurfacing for 2 weeks (Botox, fillers, Rejuvaderm, TCA peels, dermaplaning, microneedling, etc.) before waxing
Your hair should be between 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch in length. If you have coarse hair it should be closer to 1/2-inch for the first few waxes. Once the hair becomes finer it can be waxed at a shorter length. If your hair is longer, we recommend trimming the hair to these recommended lengths before your appointment.
Do not shower immediately before your appointment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective.
Everyone's skin reacts differently to waxing treatments, but you can expect to have temporary redness and minor irritation for a day or two. Slight itchiness may be experienced as the hair grows out. Proper post-wax care will alleviate these symptoms quickly.
If you’re a bride or attending a special occasion, we recommend receiving waxing services a month before your special day to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, reschedule another wax a few days before.
All Services
- Do not consume alcohol before your appointment.
- Try to stay out of the sun before and after your appointment.
- Spa Etiquette
- Please arrive on time for your service. If you arrive late, due to customers after you, we will not be able to provide the full-length of your service.
- First Spa Service? Here is some spa etiquette:
- Massages are usually done nude, but you are draped at all times. Only the part of the body being massaged is exposed. You can keep your underwear on, but it might limit the therapist's access to muscles that could use some work.
- You can continue talk quietly during the treatment or be still, as you choose. The therapist will follow your lead.
- Communicate with your therapist. Your comfort is the most important thing, and your therapist is there for you. For example, ask for more/less pressure, quieter music, a blanket if you're cold, or table warmer off if you're too warm.
- Please silence your cell phone when inside the spa.
- Please come 10 minutes early to complete an intake form.
- Under 18? We will need a parent's consent, and depending on age, the parent may need to be in the room.
- Gratuity
Tipping is customary. Treat spa services like a restaurant check. Use similar percentages paid on the full value of a service. Please reward exceptional service with a commensurate tip.
- Professional Boundaries
We reserve the right to refuse service or discontinue service to anyone demonstrating behavior that is perceived to be inappropriate by any member of our staff. Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and therapist is NEVER appropriate. Matters that are perceived as sexual activity or solicitation will be banned from Kur and/or reported to proper authorities.
- Right to Refuse Service
While we would never randomly refuse service, we reserve the right to refuse service if a guest is creating an unsafe or hostile situation; or refuse follow-up visits if our business, or any of our staff members are treated unfairly or invasively. We are fair and polite, and we expect nothing less from our guests.
